Ivan Rodriguez, Hall of Fame

Ivan Rodriguez made his Major League debut with the Texas Rangers on June 20, 1991 at 19 years of age. He was the youngest player in MLB in 1991 and 1992. Rodriguez went on to win 13 Gold Glove Awards, more than any other catcher in the history of baseball – Johnny Bench won 10 and Yadier Molina has 8. His 7 Silver Slugger Awards ranks him second all time among catchers behind Mike Piazza. Rodriguez appeared in 14 consecutive All Star Games and was the 1999 American League Most Valuable Player. Rodriguez was the MVP of the 2003 National League Championship Series helping the Florida Marlins defeat the Chicago Cubs in 7 games. The Marlins went on to win the 2003 World Series in 6 games over the Yankees. His 2,427 games behind the plate and 14, 864 putouts both rank first all time for catchers.

Rodriguez is listed in 28 of the 43 the Top 10 Texas Ranger Career Batting categories tracked by Baseball Reference including 2nd all time for Hits (1,747), Doubles (352), 4th all time for Home Runs (217), and 5th all time for Triples (28).

Robb Nen – was a 32nd round draft pick in 1987 who went on to appear in 3 Major League All Star games. He led the National League with 45 Saves in 2001 and his 314 career saves ranks 21st all time.
